Firefighter

"I'm going to be a firefighter when I grow up.
I'm not going to fight fires though
I'm going to fight people."
~ Jaden

Motherhood

Some random thoughts on motherhood today:
This is the hardest thing I have ever done.
I have never felt more tired in my life.
I have never felt less like myself.
I have never had so many opportunities to face my weaknesses and build my character.
God has never been more present in my day to day and in my weakness He is strong.
I have never loved anything more.

Spiderman

"I want a Spiderman house in heaven.
Can you tell Him that?
It might take him a year more to make that."
~ Jaden

Poop

Seriously, why do they wait until you have just changed them to poop?

Measurements

Jaden has come up with some interesting measurements lately.
"Twentytwelve" represents a very high number.
(He has also started adding "twentytwelve and a half" which I believe is even bigger.)
The correct usage of this could be, "it was a very long time, like 20-12."
"To heaven and back" is a measurement of distance, or again a very large number. One of his favorite ways to use it is, "I love you to heaven and back, to heaven and back, to heaven and back... (you get the picture...)"
"Fifty degrees" represents a very high number on the deliciousness scale.
Today he said this breakfast is very yummy, to fifty degrees.

Music Baby - 2

Small things

Jaden specifically asked if we could get this car cart at the grocery store today (my initial response was "no" as this particular cart is twice as long as average and has a turn radius of about 6 feet, making it extremely difficult to navigate through the isles of a grocery store...) however I agreed, and as he needed a co-pilot...
I can not express how simply sweet and endearing this was. I was almost tearful as I watched the two of them "driving" and beeping the horn together. Ailia felt very proud to be riding by her big brother and was doing her head shake thing to show her excitement. They both enjoyed a cookie - thanks to Wegmans - and it honestly warmed my heart to see the two of them side by side as I shopped. Jaden would periodically put his arm around Ailia and ask, "are you all right Ailia?" I never knew how happy it would make me to see my children together.

15 Months

Today our sweet girl turned 15 months. It just seems like it is going so quickly...
Yesterday was her check up complete with 2 more vaccinations (yuck!) and here are her statistics: 27lbs 7oz - 50th percentile
321/2 inches - 95th percentile
The doctor said she looks fabulous and is developing right on schedule.

Moses

"Mom, are you sad that Moses is dead"
"Not really honey, since I didn't actually know Moses.
Usually we are sad when people we know and love die. "
"It's gonna be a long time until I die. You're gonna die in a couple of days."

Bouncing Boy

In case you missed the lyrics created by Jaden...

"I caught a football in my yard,
a root ball
a racquetball
I caught it
a tennis ball"

Dinner

Dinner with the "fam." Dad is always so generous once bonus check time comes around. This year he treated us to dinner at Pascales. It was really good. Brian had cajun prime rib, I had amazing scallops, Mom had venison wellington and Dad had the duck. We all had dessert - cheesecake, chocolate torte, puff pastry, and key lime pie. Good conversation, good people, and good food. Thanks Dad!

Eternal View

Jaden has such an eternal perspective.
Today he asked if it would get dark in heaven.
If we would sleep in heaven.
If there are swimming pools in heaven.
"Can you ask Him about that and if there can be a slide to go into it like some people do."
I said it would probably be bright and sunny there because of God's glory.
"I think I'll be on God's shoulders."
(imagine the view from there!)

Jaden turns 4!

What a fun day - Jaden turned four! He woke up to find the house decorated "just as I wanted" - he was very excited from the moment he opened his eyes. Waffles for breakfast (his request) and a house full of guests for his birthday. We made a craft, played games, had cake and ice cream, opened gifts, and had a pinata. It was such a fun day. He had been a huge part of planning and involved in all the details. He was appreciative of it all. He told me that he had asked God to not have it rain and it didn't rain for his party. It was a great day - he was a crazy man with his friends and enjoyed everything.
