Animal

Ailia, If you were an animal what would you be?
"I'd like to be a lion, or a bird, or a monkey, all 3. Or a dove."
A dove? Why?
"so I could poop on people's faces."

Words

Brian reflecting on why our children are not accurately conveyed on the blog and on Facebook: "It used to be the words they use and now it's the way they use the words."

New Car

Here is a story relayed to us by our neighbor regarding her last interaction with Jaden:
Hey, Miss Gladys, did you see they got a new car? (pointing across the street.)
She turns to see a hearse sitting in the neighbor's driveway.
Oh, no Jaden, Miss Connie's father just passed away, that's what they use take people away in after they've died.
Huh, well, it's pretty nice, it's like a station wagon.

3D

Ailia and Brian having a discussion about the merits of different exercise:
Ailia says she likes bike rides and running.
Brian says, walks are good too, you can talk to each other and look at things.
Ailia says, running is better cause you can look at things too - and they are in 3D and speedier!

Bedtime Prayers

As Brian is talking to Ailia before bed getting ready to pray he asks, "what do you want to ask God for help with, who do you want to be more like?"
Her answer? "I don't want to be a diva."

Ugly

Ailia was telling us on the way to school that she didn't like something "because it was ugly." I began a lecture about love & kindness & how we love people for who they are not how they look ~ blah, blah, blah... And I ended with "its not your job to rid the world of ugly." Jaden thought that was absolutely hysterical. When he stopped laughing he said "Mom, maybe that's her superpower!"

Teeth

I made a comment to Jaden about his teeth coming in crooked, and said that's why people get braces.
He said, "I don't think it matters much, the whole point of having teeth is to chew."
Good point.

Tarantulas

Jaden filled us in on lots of random facts about tarantulas on the way home from school today, thanks to his new library book. One of said facts was that tarantulas eat newly hatched baby birds. Ailia was not happy with this information and stated, "I need to say a naughty word." "They are stupid."
